Art Description:
Nocturnes in both representational and abstract galvanize me with dark ambition. On Artonique see Nocturnal Atlas and Nightfishing in Antioch. This one depicts an Airbnb my family enjoyed late summer 2021 in Lake Katrine, upstate New York. Rice paper lanterns encircled the house. At night the glowing globes lent a magic to the experience and reminded me of bespirited lantern paintings of John Singer Sargent and Thomas Cooper Gotch. We were there for my 58th birthday in August so I painted the constellation of Leo twinkling in the dark azure blue.
Medium Used: Oil on Canvas
