Art Description:
The title is a play on the Kazantzakis novel/Martin Scorcese film The Last Temptation of Christ and Gustav Klimt's masterful hand at pushing hyper-decorative treatments toward surreal pattern language. The upside down numeral '4' is the only collage element and is meant to hint at one abstract figure birthing a symbol. The alternative photos show the piece in its handsome ornate frame (bringing the dimensions to 41x41") which is a conscious choice to give the painting a decorative finish and the voice of the older European art by which I am heavily influenced.
The same moulding was used with the same intention on the painting {also available here} The Last Train to Brown Town. See alternative photo of the 2 together in my framer's Brooklyn storefront.
Should a collector wish to acquire these 2 as a set Artonique and I will offer a discounted set price. On a personal note, I have over 1500 paintings; I always keep this one on display so I can look at it. it exudes a magical power from which I glean inspiration .
Medium Used: Oil on Canvas
