Art Description:
The words inscribed in Giorgio de Chirico's 1920 self portrait, "What Shall I Love if Not the Enigma?" are imbedded in a sea of horizontal stripes and a hidden geometry of vertical bands. A buried verbal image as a palimpsest to a visual image which appears to be melting or washing away. There is a perpetual animation of movement here like sheets of rain on a window at night.
Medium Used: Oil on Canvas
