Colorful, large scale, square format and ready to hang. One of a series of paintings based on Picasso's "Nightfishing in Antibes". (See "Nightfishing in Antioch" here in my Artonique portfolio) My series deconstructs aspects of Picasso's 1939 masterpiece; the pattern language, distortion, cartooning, ostensibly naive and purposefully awkward figuration. I'm fascinated with the goal of keeping a painting active long after my gestural dance with it is over. This particular canvas positively vibrates with this mission.
