Juxtaposition of a mouse and and a car with a scale shift and opposing, right side up/upside down, orientations. In dreams mice can symbolize small problems. Cars can symbolize the journey of life. Here the problem has grown quite large and the journey has been turned on its head. From John Berger's book Why Look at Animal, "The first subject matter for painting was animal. Probably the first paint was blood. Prior to that it is not unreasonable to suppose the first metaphor was animal...If the first metaphor was animal, it was because the essential relation between man and animal was metaphoric. Within that relation what the two terms- man and animal-shared in common revealed what differentiated them."
