Round still life painting of a Leica MP4 camera. Painted on a round solid birch panel (formerly as table at a Brooklyn sidewalk café) it has red sides. The round tondo format nods to the ocular as the lens of the eye allows circular beams of light. The effect is redoubled here with the camera lens. From a series of Pop Art meditations consumer culture and the fungibility of American values. Product design plays on desire like flowers attracting bees and the Leica is to cameras what Jaguars are to automotive design.
