Art Description:
“Uno de Mayo” is a celebration of Spring. Painted on the first day of May in a single session it freezes and documents the speed in which the gestures were laid down in rapid succession. The feverish chromatic action takes place in the center surrounded by a field of off whites and pure untouched canvas white. This is a tendency or strategy I employ often borrowing the musical term PPFF which means ‘piano piano forte forte’. In music; quiet passages are contrasted by loud ones. In the case of painting noisy, busy even violent gestures are couched in a field of space vacant and silent by comparison.
Medium Used: Oil on Canvas
