“Triumvirate Triptych” is a very large densely painted, heavily impastoed tour de force Naive painting comprised of 3 abutting canvases. It is a crowd scene populated by parading freaks and fantastic beasts. Like the bar scene in Star Wars everyone present is alien, weird or monstrous. It is a Mannerist painting constructed in a crude hamfisted pile up of thick paint. Ostensibly dark the color unpacks and becomes subtly luminous in a rich tapestry when studied. My mission was to make something, on an epic scale, that looked like it might’ve been done by naughty children or insane people. I was triumphant in attaining this particular goal.
